Inspired by the teachings of our noble religion, which encourage gratitude for blessings and discourage wastefulness, and grounded in historical evidence showing the impact of preserving or neglecting blessings, the College of Science and Arts Club in Khamis Mushait, in partnership with the College of Applied Medical Sciences Club (for both male and female students), the Applied College Club (female section), and the Science College Club (female section), organized a field activity as part of the “Ajawid” initiative under the theme **“Ajawid Health”**. This initiative aligns with our values of belonging and responsibility, and took place on Thursday, 13th of Ramadan 1446 AH, corresponding to March 13, 2025, at Lavanda Park Mall.

Objectives of the Initiative:

  • Facilitate communication with organizations that specialize in collecting and distributing surplus food to those in need.
  • Utilize leftover food to feed livestock instead of discarding it.
  • Require event venues such as wedding halls, banquet halls, and rest areas to provide refrigerators for storing surplus food for later distribution.
  • Promote a culture of moderation and responsible consumption within the community.
  • Reduce food waste in university facilities and at public events.
  • Encourage a spirit of giving and volunteerism among students and the community.

Program Activities:

  • Distribution of awareness brochures on food preservation and methods for utilizing surplus food.
  • A visual presentation on an interactive screen explaining how to contact charitable organizations specializing in food distribution.
  • Participation from the Preservation of Blessings Association in Asir region, a specialized organization aiming to raise community awareness and spread the culture of food preservation, in addition to distributing clean surplus food to beneficiaries in accordance with the highest international standards of quality and safety.
  • An interactive Q&A session to test attendees' knowledge on the topic, with motivational prizes awarded to winners.

The initiative received an enthusiastic response from attendees, reflecting the growing awareness within the community about the importance of food preservation and responsible consumption.

In Conclusion:

This activity marks an important step toward spreading a culture of sustainability and moderation. We look forward to more future initiatives that contribute to reducing food waste and strengthening charitable work in our society.
