The International Day of Learning and Effective Education is a valuable opportunity to bring together all stakeholders in education including governments, academic institutions, educators, and families to work collectively toward improving the quality and effectiveness of education. The ultimate goal is to achieve inclusive and sustainable learning for all.

In alignment with this vision, the Applied College Club in Khamis Mushait (Female Section), in cooperation with the Student Affairs Agency for Female Students, organized a special program titled *“Effective Education”* on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The event took place at Al-Oula Secondary School for Girls in Khamis Mushait, marking a fitting and inspiring start to Education Day.

The program was led by Dr. Elham Al-Ghamdi, who delivered a rich and engaging session focused on the significant role of education, through three main themes:

1. The Importance of Education in Human Life.

- Education is the foundation upon which the progress and advancement of nations are built.

- It opens doors to knowledge, enabling creativity and innovation.

- Education is not just about acquiring information; it is a comprehensive process that builds values, morals, and life skills.

- The importance of learning is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, as emphasized in the verse: "Read in the name of your Lord who created..." [Al-‘Alaq: 1].

2. Education and Community Development

- Education is not merely a personal goal; it’s a cornerstone for societal growth and progress.

- Through education, we prepare a conscious generation capable of addressing social and economic challenges.

- It’s a powerful tool for eradicating poverty, reducing unemployment, and promoting equality.

- Investing in education is investing in the future — educated societies are best equipped to face evolving global challenges.

3. The Role of Family and Community in Supporting Education

- Education is a shared responsibility, not limited to schools or institutions.

- Families play a vital role in motivating children and fostering a love of learning.

- Communities, through initiatives like Education Week, help create a culture of continuous learning.

- Every student is also personally accountable to themselves, their community, and to Allah.

Why Do We Learn?

1. Personal Growth

- Learning opens new horizons, enhancing self-awareness and unlocking one’s potential.

- It nurtures critical and creative thinking.

- It builds self-confidence by helping individuals reach personal and professional goals.

2. Social Integration

- Education fosters understanding of different cultures and promotes positive interaction with others.

- It strengthens social bonds based on mutual respect and empathy.

3. Future Readines

- Learning prepares individuals to adapt to rapid changes in the job market.

- It equips us to face challenges through knowledge, skills, and innovation.

The program also featured an "Inspiration” part, where successful female role models shared their stories. Among them was Dr. Basmah Al-Mu’abbar, a graduate of the same secondary school and a source of motivation for students — particularly in areas such as academic excellence, perseverance, and technological skill development.

Current college students also took part by sharing their educational journeys:

- Layan Saeed Jalalah

- Manal Awad Al-Qahtani

- Lama Saeed Al-Shahrani

Each spoke about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them through dedication and persistence.

The program concluded with a Q&A session, where students asked questions and received valuable insights from the speakers.

Finally, an interactive quiz competition on the theme of effective education was held, with prizes awarded to the winners — ending the event on an engaging and celebratory note.
