Social Responsibility
The College of Sciences and Arts Club in Khamis Mushait, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a program titled " Social Responsibility " on Thursday morning, 30/3/1446 AH, at 9:00 AM.
The program began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an explanatory speech on social responsibility, which is an ethical theory suggesting that any entity, whether an organization or an individual, has a duty to act in the best interest of society as a whole. Social responsibility involves maintaining a balance between economic interests and environmental systems, with objectives such as achieving social and economic benefits and doing good deeds.
The program included a competition and a dialogue with attendees on the topic, as well as the distribution of materials that supported the program's goals. Examples of these included:
1. A routine schedule to help attendees organize their time.
2. Bird feed distributions, reflecting the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) teaching: "There is a reward for serving any animate (living being)"
3. Demonstrations of assistive applications designed for remote support for people with disabilities and programs for aiding the visually impaired.
4. Distribution of agricultural plant seeds.
The program also featured live examples to enrich the discussion. Gifts were sent to schools, including Quran memorization schedules for children to encourage them to memorize the Quran, along with Quranic bookmarks. Additionally, a volunteer campaign was conducted at a rehabilitation center for children with special needs, where gifts were distributed to the children.
The program concluded with an explanation of the difference between social responsibility and community responsibility. While social responsibility focuses on specific individuals or institutions and their duties, community responsibility considers the bigger picture and the impact of these actions on society as a whole.
