King Khalid University represented in the general administration of Information Technology, passed the first stage in the World Summit on the Information Society award competition (WSIS) 2020. GoGeek is a project which took part in the WSIS award competition. The University encourages its employees to vote for the initiatives and government projects nominated to win the WSIS awards. It’s worth noting that this competition is part of the activities accompanying the World Summit on the Information Society. These activities aim to minimize the electronic gap between the countries of the world. they also focus on multimedia based technology projects which creatively effects digitalizing the cultural, scientific and educational content.
GoGeek is a program developed by the Information Technology administration at King Khalid University. It aims to develop the digital capabilities of both males and females from different age groups and implementing them in the society. This program include many technical initiatives such as: IObootcamp, Elctronic Gaming Club, IT Internship Program and Women in Cybersecurity.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al-saqr the general supervisor of the general administration of Information Technology, valued and appreciated what was achieved through GoGeek. GoGeek represents the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the 2020 WSIS awards in the Capacity Building section. He also expressed that what has been reached so far is considered an achievement. However that does not stop us from aspiring for the sake of the University, the Region and the Kingdom. Being nominated for the voting stage will qualify 5 initiatives out of 20 in the section of Capacity Building. As a result the University employees are requested to vote according to the guide and the attached video.
