King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, issued a number of appointments and extensions as follows:

  • Extension: Dr. Ahmed Atef Al-Shehri, General Supervisor, Tehama Campus;

The decisions also included the appointment or extension of several departments heads as follows:

  • Extension: Dr. Ayed Abdullah Al-Moaidh, Department of Psychology Head, Faculty of Education;
  • Appointment: Dr. Kamel Ali Al-Muqbel, Department of Islamic Studies Supervisor, Faculty of Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion;
  • Extension: Dr. Sharah Ali Ahmed Al-Zalmani, Chemistry Department Supervisor, Faculty of Science.

Congratulations to all of our colleagues who have achieved extensions or new appointments. His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy wished those granted extensions continued success in their endeavors. He also explained that we are looking forward to benefitting from the talents and efforts of the new appointees.

  Source : King Khalid University - Media Center The National Association of Orphans' Care Providers kicked off the Second National Olympiad for Orphan Care Associations in the Kingdom on Monday at the main campus. The event is sponsored by the Governor of Asir, His Royal Highness Turki bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and conducted by the association's General Director, Dr. Saad Al-Amr. This year's Olympiad was conceived by the Abha Orphans Association and planned in partnership with King Khalid University. The event drew more than 200 competitors from around the Kingdom. In the opening ceremony, General Director Al-Amr welcomed the participants and spectators. He thanked the Governor for his support and sponsorship of the games. He also thanked the university for hosting the event. He noted that orphanages have evolved over the decades. Traditionally the state mainly provided for the material needs of orphans. Now orphanages and their partners provide physical care and also strive to maximize each person's potential to benefit the individual and the society writ large. The providers have a certain amount of autonomy to carry out this mission. The attendees viewed a brief presentation on the association's purpose and the role of the games. The Olympiad includes both sporting and non-sporting events. Sports competitions include: Table tennis, swimming, track and football. Non-sport competitions include: Recitation of the Holy Quran, public speaking, cultural competition and theater. The participating association members include: The Khatin Association, Human Rights Association, Trauef Association, Abha Association, Abna Association, Raq Association, Rfkaha Association, Aknaf Association, Al Rass, Champions, Jeddah Orphanage, and Jubail Orphanage. Morning and evening sessions are being held through Friday the 22nd of Dhū Al-Ḥijjah at the university theater and gymnasium at the main campus.
  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Royal Highness Prince Turkey bin Talal bin Abdulaziz the governor of Asir, commended the efforts of the Second National Olympiad for Orphans committee , which is organized by the Ab’aa orphan association in Asir in collaboration with King Khalid University.  This came during His Royal Highness meeting  with the Director of the Ab’aa  Association in Asir Region, and  General Supervisor of the Olympics, Dr. Saad Al Amr, where he thanked the Olympics organizing committee  for their efforts in achieving success and contributing to the development of the talents and skills of the people of this country.  On his part, Al-Amr briefly introduced the Olympics  programs, activities and  goals and , pointing  that the association was keen to hold the activities of this Olympics during the summer period inline with the summer activities and events. At the end of the meeting his Royal Highness signed the  Olympic banner and  congratulating the efforts of the organizing committee  of the second  National Olympiad for Orphans.  On the other hand, the Olympics activities continue on a daily basis, in addition to  accompanying entertainment programs which include site seeing and field trips to the most popular locations of Asir. The Organizing Committee  also  hosted Mr. Saad Al-Jouni, the  General Director  of  Public Education in Asir Region, who in turn honored the winners of the third day sports and cultural competitions.  Al-Jouni also crowned the  table tennis champions, where in first place came Yousef Al -Qawsi from the Sons of Jubail Association, and in second place was Faisal Al-Tuwaijri, in third place was Arkan Al Shamiri and in fourth place was Omar Al Rashidi.

  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center Asir Region General Director of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Hussein Al-Marri, attended the activities of the second day of the Second Edition National Olympiad for Orphans Care Associations in the Kingdom hosted by King Khalid University in the presence of Abha Director of NGOs in the Social Development Center, Ali Al-Awsy. The first day activities encompassed sporting events and theater competitions. General Director Al-Marri crowned the winners of the Theater Competition. The Trawf Association from Hafr Al-Batin received gold, the Abaa Association received silver, and the Kafel Foundation received bronze. Director Al-Awsy honored the winners of the Swimming Competition. The Sons of Jubail Association received gold, the Insaan Foundation received silver, and the Kafel Foundation received bronze. The main objectives of the Second National Olympiad for Orphan Care Associations in the Kingdom to identify, develop, and empower participants to achieve their full potential. It is based on the belief that they are rich with extraordinary talent and that identifying and nurturing this talent is one of the best ways to create a bright and promising future.

As part of its role as a strategic partner, King Khalid University is hosting the Olympiad. The first day activities encompassed sporting events and cultural competitions. At the end of the track race, His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy honored the Abaa Association with gold, the Al-Buraydah Association with silver, and the Trawf association with bronze. In the cultural competitions, the Trawf Association from Hafr Al-Batin won the gold and bronze medals in the Holy Quran Recitation competition. Also, the Trawf also won gold and bronze medals in the public speaking competition, while the silver medal was handed to the Kafel association from Makkah. Of noteworthy mention, morning and evening sessions, moderated by a panel of judges from the Ministry of Education, are being held through Friday the 22nd of Dhū Al-Ḥijjah at the university theatre and gymnasium at the main campus.
