University Holds 9th Annual Council Meeting: Recommends a Variety of New Academic Programs

King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, chaired the university's Ninth Council Meeting. In addition to the regular members (Vice Rectors and Deans), the Secretary-General (Interim) for the Committee of Higher Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh, attended. His Excellency began the meeting by thanking Allah for his blessings and praising the Prophet; peace be upon him. Vice Rector of Graduate Studies, Prof. Saad Al-Amri, reviewed the meeting agenda. The topics discussed included:

  • The university final financial account;
  • Establishment of the infrastructure for Academic Guidance;
  • Approval of attendance rules and regulations;
  • Faculty participation in the scientific meetings;
  • Rules and regulation for scientific communications;
  • Executive rules regarding promotions;
  • Rules for faculty member publication;
  • Consideration of applications for promotions to the rank of assistant professor;
  • Consideration of new diploma, undergraduate and graduate curricula in the university system.
     

The Council also recommended the approval of a number of new programs including: PhD in Business Administration, Master of Public Health, Executive Master of Applied Computing, Master of Science in Data Science in Information Systems, Master of Educational Policies, Diploma in Cyber ​​Security, Diploma in Prevention of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Marketing Diploma, and Diploma of Web and Mobile Applications Development.

  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center On the 16th of Shawwāl 1440 AH, admissions tests for the 1441 AH academic year will be held for new candidates as reported by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration. The tests are tailored to students from the business, computer science, and accounting departments at community colleges who wish to complete their undergraduate studies at King Khalid University. Male Examination Location Business Administration and Accounting: Building A (Room 43 on the Third Floor), Business School, Main Campus; Computer Science: Building A (Room 43 on the Third Floor), Business School, Main Campus, and the College of Arts and Science in Muhayil.   Female Examination Location Business Administration and Accounting: College of Home Economics at King Abdullah Road; Computer Science: College of Computer Science, Al-Samer Campus, the College of Arts and Science in Khamis Mushait, Muhayil, and Rijal Alma.   Of noteworthy mention, the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education (female section) announced the open registration period for a number of workshops and programs for the summer season during the month of Shawwāl. The workshops include: Computers in Office Work; Special Needs Adaptive Behavior; Ethical and Systematic Practices in the Work Environment; Skills and Development Course; English Proficiency Course for Children (9-12 years); The Marketing Plan Cycle; Modern Secretarial and Management Skills.
  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Asir, inaugurated the Sandkum Volunteer Initiative and 2 other initiatives. The forum was organized by the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education. In an exciting development, His Royal Highness announced that two new voluntary initiatives will be announced in the near future. His Royal Highness explained that the initiatives will encompass graffiti prevention and removal and a Green Asir Project where trees will be planted across the region in gardens and parks, mosques, schools, and public facilities. At the commencement of the closing ceremony for the 2019 Sandkum Preparation Program, His Royal Highness expressed his gratitude to King Khalid University, the organizers and all of the program participants. He further recognized and thanked the university for its many community service and public outreach programs that run concurrently with university educational and academic functions. His Royal Highness stated that the university's public interest efforts help promote growth and development in the region, noting the importance of commitment and teamwork. Later in the program, a brief orientation on the volunteer work of all Sandkum volunteer teams was provided. This was underscored by a discussion of future initiatives in the region and a charter signing event by the Sandkum team.
  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University recently hosted the activities of the 1440 AH volunteer preparation course 'Sandkum', which lasted for three days starting on the 15th Ramadan. 16 governmental and private institutions alongside a number of university employees participated. The meeting was held under the patronage of Academic Development and Quality Vice Rector, Dr. Merzin Al-Shahrani, at the main campus. Dean of Community Service and Continuous Education, Dr. Omar Alwan Ageel, explained that the purpose of the program is the development of team members in order to meet the stated objectives. He then followed by welcoming the program participants and attendees, stressing the value of the outcomes to the region. The program included a paper by the Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hajri, in which he discussed 'Volunteer Charisma'. This was followed by a presentation that discussed the values of volunteer work and social communication skills delivered by Ali Asiri. Eng. Marikh Al-Shahrani also discussed the preservation of the environment, parks, tourist sites, and contributions needed to support security in the region. On the same note, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Shahrani spoke about the role of the Asir Police, which includes safety, organizational procedures, and maintaining public manners. Of noteworthy mention, the program also offered CPR and first aid training by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. King Khalid University seeks through this program to help achieve the Kingdom's 2030 vision through the preparation of 400 volunteers (in addition to its current 500 volunteer trainees) supervised by the Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education.
  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center In a recent ceremony, King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, received the translated copy of the Routledge Encyclopedia of Language Teaching and Learning from the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Arts in Tanumah and Professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Faqih. Dean Al-Faqih's translation of the encyclopedia required a significant investment of his time and expertise in translation. His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy stressed the importance of translation projects to encourage the spread of knowledge throughout the world. He spoke about the ways in which vocabulary and phrases enrich understanding of various subject matters. His Excellency then thanked Dean Al-Faqih for his hard work and persistence in completing the project. He noted that the translated book will be a valuable addition to libraries and institutions throughout the Arabic speaking world. The manuscript will greatly benefit researchers for generations to come. Also present at the ceremony were Vice Rector of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad Al-Amri, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Dr. Saad Bin Du'ajim, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, and the Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Naser. They all congratulated Dean Al-Faqih for his accomplishment, noting that the effort will help propel forward further research in many areas of study. Dean Al-Faqih said that the encyclopedia included many definitions and articles on language, history, and terminology. Also included are: Teaching methods, teaching materials, evaluation and testing rubrics, language psychology, anthropology, social linguistics, communicative teaching issues, teacher education, curriculum design, bilingualism, language laboratories, studies in linguistic and cultural institutions, and professional associations. The encyclopedia is a Routledge House publication. Routledge House is the U.K. based repository for 1,800 scientific journals and more than 5,000 books. King Saud University also supported the translation project and the printing of the encyclopedia for institutional use in the Kingdom.
